Tank tops are a staple of my closet. Sometimes I cut up t-shirts to make them into tank tops, which is what I did with my old Ramones t-shirt. It’s not unusual for the people in my circle to wear a tank top out to the nightclub even if it’s cold. To stay warm this Saturday night, I decided to wear a faux fur, swing coat.
It’s not really practical to wear a fur coat to the clubs because spilling a drink (especially alcohol) on fur is really annoying, but I get this rockstar vibe in my head when walking into a nightclub in a fur coat and sunglasses. Although I know the Ramones were a 70’s punk band, I think the cut up t-shirt and fur coat paired with ripped up skinny jeans, motorcycle gloves, and oversized John Lennon sunglasses give me that late 80’s, “I’m going to a rock show on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood” look that I was going for (inspired by the musical turned movie Rock of Ages). I decided to wear my silver, JS wing high-tops and a cartoonish, skull and crossbones chain necklace to add a little shine and whimsy to the look. I also stacked silver and leather cuffs because I feel incomplete when my wrists are bare.
