A Hard Reset
6 years ago I started taking classes at CCSF in order to take prerequisite classes for graduate school. I wanted a change for my career in the hospitality industry (something I kind of fell into in college) to fashion. I wasn't sure what exactly was the end goal other than trying to find a way to marry my business background with my love for the fashion industry. And then I took the fashion communications and writing class that was offered at CCSF. I was inspired.
At the time, fashion blogs were still a major trend with social media still emerging and the class reflected that. The class was centered around starting a fashion blog with touches of writing for Twitter, creating an editorial spread, and general PR writing. I loved the class and knew that this was the route I wanted to take my career, especially since growing up I've always wanted to be a journalist but my parents wouldn't allow me to pursue that career route and photography was a hobby I wanted to develop since taking a few years of classes in high school. My first blog grew out from this, but the posts were inconsistent as I wasn't too sure what direction I wanted to take it nor had the time to dedicate to it.
Fast forward to 2020 where I'm a few years out of graduate school and trying to get my career established in the fashion industry. Although I had a better direction for where I want to take my career, it's been a struggle trying to get a footing in such a competitive industry. And then in April, I was laid off of my job as a result of the global pandemic. I figured this would be a great time to focus on more creative outlets that I've been feeling starved from in order to pivot my career towards content creation.
So here I am doing a hard reset on my website on the day of my birthday (yay, happy birthday to me!)
